A one-day Teachers’ Training Workshop was organised on 14 September 2026 at Nazma-Heera Memorial Public School, Puran Gaon, Sontoli, Assam, by the Centre for Training and Academic Guidance (CTAG), under the aegis of Human Welfare Foundation, in collaboration with Azad Educational Trust of Assam (AETA).
Around 35 teachers from 7 schools across Assam participated in the workshop. The programme aimed to strengthen teachers’ knowledge, practical skills and approaches towards effective teaching and holistic student support.
The workshop featured two engaging sessions by Heera Das, Lecturer, DIET Kamrup, Mirza, focusing on understanding learners for value-driven teaching, lesson planning and resources for meaningful teaching. The sessions highlighted the importance of recognising students’ individual needs and interests, while exploring practical approaches to lesson planning and the effective use of teaching-learning resources.
Another important session was facilitated by Liona Pathak, Lecturer, DIET Kamrup, Mirza, focusing on effective classroom management and counselling skills. The session provided practical strategies for managing classrooms, improving teacher-student communication and developing supportive relationships with learners.
The concluding session was conducted by Faruk Ahmmad, Career Counsellor and Coordinator, CTAG North-East, focusing on the implementation and practical application of psychometric assessment tools and digital platforms. Participants were introduced to the use of assessment tools for understanding students’ interests, aptitude and personality, along with digital resources that can support teachers in providing appropriate guidance to students.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for learning, interaction and experience sharing among teachers from different schools. The active participation of around 35 teachers representing 7 schools contributed to making the programme practical, engaging and outcome-oriented, with emphasis on strengthening teachers as effective facilitators, mentors and guides for students.
