National Career Trainers Training Workshop Concludes Successfully at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi

New Delhi, 3rd February 2026 : A three-day National Career Trainers Training Workshop was successfully conducted from 31 January to 2 February 2026 at FTK-CIT and the Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. The national-level programme was jointly organized by the Centre for Training and Academic Guidance (CTAG) under the Human Welfare Foundation (HWF), in collaboration with the Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia. A total of 55 selected participants from 10 states across India attended the workshop, reflecting its broad national representation and relevance.

The workshop aimed to strengthen the professional competencies of career trainers, counsellors, and educators by integrating academic perspectives, ethical counselling frameworks, and practical skill development, in response to the evolving educational and employment landscape in India.

The inaugural session featured a keynote address by Dr. Aejaz Masih, Head, Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, who emphasized the importance of professional training and academic responsibility in career guidance. Mr. M. Sajid, General Secretary, Human Welfare Foundation, outlined the objectives of the workshop and highlighted the need for structured, ethical, and culturally responsive career counselling practices in India. Mr. Sharique Ansar, Manager, Education Department, HWF, shared an overview of the activities of CTAG and highlighted possible future plans for the development of education and career guidance initiatives. Dr. Sameer Babu M, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, also addressed the gathering, underlining the relevance of such national-level capacity-building initiatives for educators and counsellors. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ali Haider, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia.

The three-day programme featured expert sessions by distinguished academicians and practitioners. Dr. Habeebul Rahiman, Associate Professor, Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia, delivered a session on the challenges and emerging trends in career guidance and counselling in India. Dr. Quazi Firdous Islam, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, spoke on counselling ethics, cultural awareness, empathy, and observation as essential components of effective counselling practice. Dr. Asjad Usmani, Senior Associate Professor and Head of Management Studies, Don Bosco Institute of Technology, New Delhi, discussed the essential personal and professional qualities required of career counsellors, drawing from practical experiences.

On the second day, Dr. Rubina Nusrat, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia, conducted a session on effective communication skills in counselling. Dr. Khizra Shibli, Counselling Psychologist, facilitated experiential learning through role play and case study methods, enabling participants to engage with real-life counselling scenarios. Mr. Faizy Rahman, Centre In-Charge, CTAG, HWF, led a practical session on the implementation of psychometric tools and digital applications in career counselling.

The concluding day included academic and professional development sessions by Dr. Arshad Ikram Ahmad, Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, who spoke on classroom-based career guidance and inclusive learning ecosystems, and Mr. Layeeq Ahmed Khan, NLP Practice Mentor from Hyderabad, who focused on self-esteem, motivation, and goal setting as key aspects of professional development. Dr. Sultana Parveen, National Coordinator/Trainer, CTAG, HWF, conducted a session on establishing institutional career cells and strengthening information literacy among students.

The workshop concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony, during which Mr. Noufal PK, CEO, Human Welfare Foundation, delivered the valedictory address and appreciated the active participation and commitment of the trainees. Certificates were distributed to all participants. Dr. Sajjad Ahmad, Assistant Professor and Deputy Nodal Officer, School of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, attended the ceremony as the Guest of Honour. The programme formally concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Aejaz Masih, who declared the workshop closed.

The successful completion of the workshop marks a significant step towards strengthening career guidance and counselling practices across educational institutions in India and enhancing the professional capacity of career trainers nationwide.

Dr. Khizra Shibli, Counselling Psychologist, facilitated experiential learning through role play and case study methods, enabling participants to engage with real-life counselling scenarios. Mr. Faizy Rahman, Centre In-Charge, CTAG, HWF, led a practical session on the implementation of psychometric tools and digital applications in career counselling.

The concluding day included academic and professional development sessions by Dr. Arshad Ikram Ahmad, Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, who spoke on classroom-based career guidance and inclusive learning ecosystems, and Mr. Layeeq Ahmed Khan, NLP Practice Mentor from Hyderabad, who focused on self-esteem, motivation, and goal setting as key aspects of professional development. Dr. Sultana Parveen, National Coordinator/Trainer, CTAG, HWF, conducted a session on establishing institutional career cells and strengthening information literacy among students.

The workshop concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony, during which Mr. Noufal PK, CEO, Human Welfare Foundation, delivered the valedictory address and appreciated the active participation and commitment of the trainees. Certificates were distributed to all participants. He also highlighted the key activities of HWF and CTAG, along with their future projects and possibilities in the field of education and career guidance.
