Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

The Government of India has announced the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (PM-USP CSSS), applicable from the academic year 2022-23 onwards. The scholarships, awarded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, are based on the results of the Higher Secondary/Class XII Board Examination. This initiative offers a maximum of 82,000 fresh scholarships each year, allowing students to pursue graduate and postgraduate degrees in colleges and universities. It also extends its support to students pursuing professional courses, including Medical and Engineering.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must:

Score above the 80th percentile in the relevant stream in the Class XII examination or its equivalent.
Be pursuing regular degree courses, excluding correspondence or distance education.
Enroll in colleges or institutions recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education and relevant regulatory bodies.
Not avail of benefits from any other scholarship schemes, including state-run schemes.
Have a gross parental/family income of up to Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum.
Maintain a minimum of 50% marks in the annual examination for scholarship renewal, along with a 75% attendance record.

Rate and Duration of Scholarship

Starting from the financial year 2022-23, the scholarship provides Rs. 12,000 per annum at the graduation level for the first three years of college and university courses. For postgraduate studies, the scholarship increases to Rs. 20,000 per annum. Students pursuing professional courses with a five-year duration will receive Rs. 20,000 per annum in the fourth and fifth years. For technical courses, the scholarship supports students up to the graduation level.
