On 13 September 2026, a One-Day Career Trainer’s Training Workshop was successfully organised at Hazrat Omar® Model Academy, Howly, Assam, with the objective of strengthening the knowledge, skills and practical competencies of career trainers. A total of 42 participants from different parts of Assam attended the workshop and actively participated in the sessions and discussions.
The workshop commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Dewan Nazrul Qadir, Associate Professor, BB Kishan College, Jalahghat, followed by the workshop introduction by Shahidul Islam, State Coordinator, Human Welfare Foundation.
Abdul Aziz, Principal, HOMA, Howly, discussed “Career Guidance & Counselling: Need, Scope and Challenges,” focusing on the importance and challenges of effective career guidance. Nashir Uddin, Principal, DIET, Chirang, conducted a session on “Career Counselling Beyond Aptitude,” highlighting the need to consider students’ broader interests and abilities. Dr. Jaherul Alom, Associate Professor, Barnagar College, Sorbhog, discussed “Essential Qualities of an Effective Counsellor,” with emphasis on empathy, active listening and effective communication.
Faruk Ahmmad, Career Counsellor & Coordinator, CTAG North-East, conducted a practical session on “Implementation & Practical Application of Psychometric Assessment, Tools and Digital Career Guidance Platforms,” introducing participants to practical tools and digital resources for career counselling.
The workshop concluded with an interactive session on “The Art of Communication in Counselling” by Moinul Hoque, Coordinator, Hazrat Omar® Model Academy, Howly, followed by key takeaways, participant feedback, valedictory remarks and a vote of thanks.
Overall, the programme served as a valuable platform for capacity building, practical learning and knowledge sharing among career trainers across Assam.
