The Department of Educational Studies (DES), Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), in partnership with Centre for Training and Academic Guidance (CTAG) of the Human Welfare Foundation (HWF), hosted a three-day National Intensive Writers’ Clinic (NIWC). The clinic, held at the School of Education Building, sought to help emerging scholars improve their academic writing skills by focussing on APA 7th Edition rules.
The program, titled “A Hands-on Experience on Writing APA 7th Style Manuscripts,” combined theoretical education and practical application to improve academic rigour, publication ethics, and scholarly exposure. Its goal is to help PhD candidates and early-career researchers improve their scholarly writing fluency and clarity.
The event began in an atmosphere of academic engagement, attracting faculty members, research scholars, and representatives from collaborating institutions. Dr. Quazi Ferdousi Islam welcomed the attendees, while Dr. Sameer Babu M emphasised the importance of immersive, practice-based academic training. In a special lecture, Mr Noufal PK, CEO of HWF, highlighted the significance of institutions in democratising access to research support and editorial mentorship.
Prof. (Dr) Kaushal Kishore, Head of DES, gave the Presidential Remarks, encouraging scholars to use academic writing as a consistent, ethical, and reflective activity. Dr. Zeba Tabassum outlined the workshop schedule, and Mr. Vaibhav Verma, Ph.D. Scholar, gave the vote of thanks. Dr. Sultana Parveen, CTAG’s Coordinator, discussed the Centre’s goal and commitment to educating marginalised groups.
The training was held in person and included hands-on activities like editing papers, creating reference lists, and utilising citation software.
