Joint Admission Test for Masters( JAM)

Joint Admission test for Masters is an examination on the comprehensive understanding of the candidates at the undergraduate level in Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH).

JAM scores will be used for admission to M.Sc. (Two-Year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.S. (Research)/Ph.D. Dual Degree M.Sc.‐M.Tech. Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor’s Degree Programmes at IITs (Bhilai, Bhubaneshwar, Bombay, Delhi, (ISM) Dhanbad, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Mandi, Palakkad, Patna, Roorkee, Ropar, Tirupati and (BHU) Varanasi) for the various Academic Session 

JAM score will be used by IISc Bangalore for admission to Integrated Ph.D. programmes. JAM score will also be used by other centrally funded technical institutions such as NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET Punjab, and IISERs for admission to their postgraduate programmes.

 

JAM does not guarantee either admission to postgraduate programs or any scholarship/ financial assistance.

STRUCTURE AND MODE OF JAM 2022.


JAM  examination will be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) in ONLINE mode only. A candidate can appear for either one test paper or two test papers by paying an additional fee for the second test paper. Candidates opting to appear for two test papers must ensure that they do not choose test papers that are scheduled
in the same session.

PATTERN OF TEST PAPERS


JAM  Test papers will be fully objective type, with three patternsof questions: (i) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ),(ii) Multiple SelectQuestions (MSQ), and (iii) Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT AND MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (MEQs) FOR ADMISSION


In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding‐off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates (If CGPA/CPI is on a
different scale, it would be linearly mapped to a 10-point scale). Refer to https://jam.iitr.ac.in for MEQs and other details. Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the required eligibility as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted.
