Eligibility

Students who have completed their 12th standard with Science subjects are eligible to apply. Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe students are also eligible with a 12th-grade pass.

Admission Pathways

IISc offers admission through several national-level entrance exams:

  1. JEE (Main)
  2. JEE Advanced
  3. NEET UG
  4. IISER Aptitude Test

Students can apply through any one of these channels depending on their chosen program. It’s crucial to identify the appropriate channel and prepare accordingly.

Bachelor of Science (Research)

  • Duration: Four-year (eight-semester) program.
  • Curriculum: The first year and a half focuses on core subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Engineering, and Humanities. Students then specialize in one area: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Materials, Earth and Environmental Science.
  • Research Component: The final year involves an in-depth research project.
  • Further Studies: Students can pursue a Master’s degree (MS) by studying for an additional year.
  • Tuition Fee: Rs. 10,000 per year.

Bachelor of Technology in Mathematics and Computing

  • Focus: This program emphasizes Mathematics and Computing, along with foundational courses in Science, Humanities, and Engineering.
  • Specializations: Students can explore areas like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Science, Theoretical Computer Science, Quantum Computing, Signal Processing, Computational 1 Biology, and Mathematical Finance. 2  
  • Duration: Four years.
  • Further Studies: Students can pursue an M.Tech degree by studying for an additional year.
  • Admission: Based on JEE Advanced rank.
  • Tuition Fee: Approximately Rs. 2 lakhs per year. Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe students are exempt from fees.
