National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) for Class 8 Students: Apply Now
The National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) is a scholarship scheme offered by the Central Government to meritorious students in Class 8.
Eligibility:
Students studying in Class 8 in government or aided schools in Kerala during the 2024-25 academic year are eligible.
They must have secured at least 55% marks in Class 7 in the 2023-24 academic year (50% for SC/ST students).
Annual family income should not exceed ₹3.5 lakhs.
Students from residential schools, central schools, or Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are not eligible.
Scholarship Benefits:
Eligible students will receive ₹12,000 per year for Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12.
To continue receiving the scholarship, students must maintain a minimum of 55% marks in Class 9 and 60% marks in Class 10.
SC/ST students need to maintain 50% marks in Class 9.
Application Process:
Applications can be submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal.
The deadline for applications is October 15th.
Students can submit applications individually or through their school heads.
No fee is required for applying.
After submitting the online application, students must submit a hard copy of the application along with supporting documents to their school head for verification.
Exam Details:
The NMMS exam will be held in November.
It consists of two parts: Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
The MAT includes questions on analogies, classification, number series, pattern recognition, and hidden figures.
The SAT includes questions on social science, basic science, and basic mathematics.
Both parts have 90 multiple-choice questions, with 1 mark for each correct answer.
The exam is available in English, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada.
Students must score at least 40% in both MAT and SAT to qualify for the scholarship. SC/ST students need to score at least 32%.
