Pre Sea Training Courses.

Pre-Sea Training is an ideal course for engaging in sea-based occupations there are pre-C training courses suitable for those who have passed the 10th class in science subjects and have an engineering degree in Mechanical Navy Architecture.

Those who have passed Class X with not less than 40% marks can become a ship employee after passing the Pre-sea training course and passing the GP Rating Competency Examinations and getting DGS approval. Tenth graders between the ages of 17.5 and 25 can apply. The basis of employment is the certificates obtained by passing the Competency Rating Examinations of the Directorate General of Shipping and others.

The Marie Time University of India has converted the earlier one-year pre-sea training course into a PG Diploma in Marine Engineering, making it more suitable for becoming an engineer in the Merchant Navy. The course is conducted at University's  Cochin Campus on Wellington Island.

This course is open to those who have completed at least 50% marks in Mechanical / Naval Architecture and who are appearing for the final degree qualifying examination to become Ship Board Engineer Cadets.

Both men and women can study Pre-Sea training or Pre-Sea Marine Engineering courses

Must have obtained at least 50% marks in English subject at Class X / Plus Two level. Must be proficient in English.

GP rating is a course that is considered as a basic qualification for deck/engine employees in shipping companies and other jobs at sea.

Qualification

• Candidates who have secured 40% marks in the Class X examination can apply.
• Age range 18 -25. Classes begin in January and July each year.
• Duration: Six months
