The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, invites applications for the Research Associateship program. This program aims to develop a pool of skilled human resources in the fields of biology and biotechnology by training young researchers and scientists.
Eligibility:
- Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Science/Engineering or an MD/MS degree in any field.
- Candidates with a Ph.D. thesis submission are also eligible, subject to certain conditions.
- The upper age limit is 40 for men and 45 for women as on 01/01/2025.
- Mentors must be regular academic research faculty in a recognized institution in India.
Fellowship:
- A monthly stipend of Rs. 55,000/- will be provided.
- An annual research contingency grant of Rs. 50,000/- will be given for minor equipment, consumables, contingencies, and domestic travel.
- HRA and other benefits will also be provided.
- Selected fellows will have the opportunity to be mentored by senior scientists and utilize their research facilities.
Selection Process:
- The selection process will be based on the candidate’s academic record, research experience, and proposal.
- Selected fellows will be placed in various research institutions, universities, and non-profit research and development organizations across the country.

Note:
- Only one Research Associateship can be held under a single mentor.
- Candidates who are currently employed (permanent or contractual) can also apply. However, they will need to resign from their current position if selected for the fellowship.
