National Testing Agency (NTA) invites applications for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) to be held in December 2024. This test is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
Eligibility:
- Masters degree or equivalent in relevant subjects with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD/Transgender).
- Final year students of Masters programs can also apply subject to certain conditions.
- Final year students of 4-year/8-semester integrated programs can also apply, but they will not be eligible for Assistant Professor positions.
Age Limit:
- For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Maximum age of 30 years as on 1st January 2025. Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/PWD/Transgender candidates and women with research experience.
- No age limit for Assistant Professor and PhD eligibility.
Exam Pattern:
- Computer-based test (CBT) of 3 hours duration.
- Two papers:
- Paper 1: 50 questions (100 marks) on Teaching/Research Aptitude.
- Paper 2: 100 questions (200 marks) on the subject chosen by the candidate.
- Negative marking: No negative marking.
Exam Centers:
- Â Candidates can choose up to 4 preferred centers.
Categories of Eligibility:
- Category 1: Eligibility for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD.
- Category 2: Eligibility for Assistant Professor and PhD.
- Category 3: Eligibility for PhD only.
Application Process:
- Online applications can be submitted on the UGC NET NTA website (ugcnet.nta.ac.in) until December 10th, 2024 (11:50 PM).
- Application fee: General category – ₹1150, OBC/EWS – ₹600, SC/ST/PWD/Transgender – ₹325.
- Application fee can be paid until December 11th, 2024 (11:50 PM).
- Corrections in the application can be made from December 12th to 13th, 2024 (11:50 PM).
