CLAT 2026 Notification – Common Law Admission Test

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially announced the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026, the national-level entrance exam for admission to Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law programs at India’s top National Law Universities.

Why CLAT Matters

CLAT is the gateway to India’s most prestigious law schools, including NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, NUJS Kolkata, NLIU Bhopal, NLU Jodhpur and many others. The exam is also accepted by some Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and used for recruitment in specific sectors.

Important Dates

  • Application Opens: August 1, 2025
  • Application Closes: October 31, 2025 (midnight)
  • Exam Date: Sunday, December 7, 2025
    • Timing: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Eligibility

For UG (LL.B. Integrated Programmes):

  • Must have completed or be appearing in Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2026.
  • Minimum marks: 45% (40% for SC/ST/PwD).
  • No upper age limit.

For PG (LL.M. Programmes):

  • Must have completed or be in the final year of LL.B. degree.
  • Minimum marks: 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwD).
  • No upper age limit.

 Registration Process

  1. Visit the official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in
  2. Create an account and fill out personal, academic, and contact details.
  3. Select your preferred exam centres.
  4. Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable).
  5. Pay the application fee:
    • General/OBC/PwD/NRI/OCI: ₹4,000
    • SC/ST/BPL: ₹3,500
    • Previous years’ question papers (optional add-on): ₹500
  6. Submit the form and keep a copy of the confirmation page.

 

📖 Exam Pattern (UG)

  • Mode: Pen-and-paper (Offline)
  • Questions: 120 MCQs
  • Marking: +1 for correct answer, –0.25 for wrong answer

Sections:

  • English Language: ~20%
  • Current Affairs & General Knowledge: ~25%
  • Legal Reasoning: ~25%
  • Logical Reasoning: ~20%
  • Quantitative Techniques: ~10%
