SSC Constable (GD) & Rifleman (GD) Recruitment Examination, 2026
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Constable (General Duty) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Secretariat Security Force (SSF), and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles Examination, 2026. Important Application Dates
The online application process will be open from 01 December 2025 to 31 December 2025 (up to 23:00 hours). Candidates may pay the application fee online until 01 January 2026. A brief application correction window will be available from 08 January to 10 January 2026. The Computer Based Examination is tentatively scheduled to be conducted between February and April 2026 .
Posts and Pay Structure
Recruitment is being conducted for Constable (GD) posts in BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, and SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles. All posts fall under Pay Level–3, with a salary range of ₹21,700 to ₹69,100, along with admissible allowances as per Government rules. A total of 25,487 tentative vacancies have been notified, including 10% reservation for Ex-Servicemen .
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be citizens of India and should be 18 to 23 years of age as on 01 January 2026. Candidates must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board on or before the cut-off date. Relaxation in upper age limit is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen, and other eligible categories as per Government norms .
Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of a Computer Based Examination (CBE) followed by Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Medical Examination, and Document Verification. The written examination will assess candidates on General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and English/Hindi, and will be conducted in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages .
Application Fee and Mode of Apply
The application fee is ₹100/-. Women candidates, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and eligible Ex-Servicemen are exempted from payment of the fee. Applications must be submitted online only through the official SSC website https://ssc.gov.in, after completing One-Time Registration (OTR). Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted .
